Happy Halloween!

I love Japan's social responsibility. Everywhere you walk in the airports, train stations and on the roads there are ribbed pathways for blind people to follow. The paths are terrible for my grandma's suitcase that I've been wheeling around but they make getting around public areas so much easier for those who are visually impaired. The other day we were standing on one of the pathways in the train station without realizing and a blind man was practically running using the path. He almost pummeled through me, Tia and everyone else who was also standing on the walkway. There are also noises that the crosswalks make when it's safe to cross and the elevators in the stations make noise too so those who can't see can find them audibly. Speaking of crosswalks, it's crazy that everybody waits here to cross the street. There could be no cars in sight yet if the crossing sign is red, no one will move. People also line up to cross the street. It's SO weird. I kind of like being able to cross the street whenever in whatever way I want especially if I'm in a hurry. I don't want to have to wait behind people to get to the other side. However, I must say that I've been here over a week now and have not seen one single car accident. Nothing. Just on the way to work every morning I would see a few on the turnpike. Drivers must be more careful with obeying signals or something cause some of the roads here have like 6 crossways and are like death traps but I haven't seen any accidents. Jussayin'. Next. Everybody is so fashionable and cute here. The girls are always wearing heels and their hair is always done nicely but what is with girls who wear socks with heels? Socks and heels don't go together in any circumstance. If it's cold, wear socks and stick your feet in boots. It looks weird and must be so uncomfortable. Do girls buy heels a half size bigger to leave room for their socks? Do they wear socks with heels during the summer too or is it a weather issue?

I have another question, all the white breathing masks that people wear over their mouth and nose... Are they used for preventing something or is it because they're sick and don't want to spread germs? Probably 1 in 10 wear them and all the stores sell them. Should I get one? Are they reusable? What are people afraid of? Should I be afraid? I'm afraid...

10.31.15 We had lunch at a little vegan cafe and we're walking back to Shinjuku. Nani went to lunch with some friends so it was just me mom and Tia for a bit. I hate people touching my feet but I would love a foot massage right about now. They have those fish spas here where you can stick your feet in tanks filled with little fish that will eat all the dead stuff from your toes...yummy. We walked around and shopped most of the day but I didn't need anything. I'm trying to downsize and to add to that alls I got is the pack on my back. If I can't carry it I can't buy it. So sad, I saw some really cute sweaters today =[

A lot less people were dressed up for halloween than I thought would be. I saw more festive costumes yesterday. The bakeries and shops are all cute and done up though so I took some pictures of them.

At some restuarants and cafés there are these vending machine type things outside the restaurant and the way you order food is to insert your money and press on the picture of what you want and then it'll spit out a ticket and change and then you take that ticket inside the restaurant to the counter and they'll seat you and bring you your food. I don't know why they do it this way. Maybe to prevent cash being handled around the food, or maybe so there's no cash behind the counter or maybe to prevent people from queuing up inside the already small restaurants? I dunno but it makes it a bit difficult with the small pictures and japanese writing to figure out what I want to eat. It's basically the same as ordering blind. No worries though, I'm not a picky eater and I've been pretty sucessfull thus far with food roulette.

We're back in Asakusa and I'm tired. Going to bed and I'll catch you guys tomorrow.

P.s. Leg warmers look cute with heels and I think and tights are also acceptable. Much love, Cas
